4 Chome-4-16 Tatsumikita, Ikuno Ward, Osaka, 544-000401 / ABOUT THE PLACE
At Yakiniku Sankei Kitatatsumi, the beef tongue selection is a natural place to start, with thick-cut tongue among the highlights. The menu says that only the tenderest, finest-quality parts of the tongue are selected. Diners who ordered the thick-cut version have praised its satisfying bite and flavour; another described the salted tongue as tender and generously portioned. It makes a compelling centrepiece for a meal built around tongue.
For a taste of different cuts, consider premium skirt steak, with its moderate marbling, or premium loin, whose fine marbling brings together the sweetness of the fat and the savouriness of the meat. Diners have commented on the flavour and tenderness of the skirt steak and loin, making them natural partners for tongue. To sample several cuts at once, the premium assortment brings together loin, kalbi, skirt steak, tongue and premium offal.
The menu extends beyond yakiniku to include Korean dishes. The seafood pancake is generously filled with seafood, kimchi and vegetables such as garlic chives, and is described as crisp and chewy—a good option to share between grilled servings. Another choice is mu, a traditional Korean ingredient made by setting buckwheat flour into a jelly-like form. Served with vegetables and house-made sauce, it adds a different texture to a meal that might otherwise focus on meat.
At lunchtime, diners can choose from grilled-meat set meals, a tail-soup set, a cold-noodle set and a yakiniku rice bowl. The premium set combines loin, premium offal, and either tongue or cheek, for those who want to grill meat at the table even at midday. The rice bowl pairs meat coated in a sweet-and-savoury sauce with rice, while the cold-noodle set features springy noodles and house-made soup enriched with the flavour of meat. Choose between gathering around the grill or keeping lunch simple with a bowl or noodles.
For an evening meal with a group, options include the Family Set, with regular salted tongue, loin, kalbi, sausages and grilled vegetables, or the Sankei Yaki, which includes premium meats and seafood. Private rooms are available, and reservations are recommended for dinner, so it may be helpful to enquire ahead when your group size is settled.
